Through patent pending technology, the existing Fizzics device creates perfect foam head on any beer, from any bottles and cans. The micro-foam that is created through sound waves and oscillation enhances the aroma and smooth mouth feel, delivering a draft-quality flavor.
When the Fizzics clients came to frog, they wanted us to develop a new design language system for their next generation of Fizzics devices. The goal of the project was to create a compelling design that will appeal to larger audience while improving usability and cleanability, and to create a successful Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for bringing the product to market by end of 2016.
The objective was to improve on the overarching user experience by improving the key touch points of the device. The areas that needed most improvements were around beer bottle/can loading experience and the pouring experience, while cleanability and reducing the overall device size was also one of the main considerations.
Generative workshop with the Fizzics clients helped the team to discuss, evaluate, and align on existing and new features to be included on the new Waytap device.
Through iterative sketching and fast CAD, the general form took a shape in a tall cylindrical tower with a weighted base that sticks out to hold the drip tray.
The main concept was to highlight the key touch points of the device to enhance the beer pouring experience. Through gear-shifter inspired handle and mechanical gauge on the top that functioned to guide the user.
